ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The cars and stars of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will head south to Southern Raceway in Milton, FL for the 12th Annual Southern 100 this Friday night and Saturday night for two complete shows that will pay a total of $10,000-to-win. The Friday night is a $3,000-to-win 30-lap race, and Saturday night it’s a $7,000-to-win 70-lap race.

There are four races left in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season, and drivers in the Top 10 of the National point standings will be battling for point fund paying spots. A former Southern 100 Champion will return to Southern Raceway, and several local favorites will be looking to keep the big money at home.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point leader Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is also the defending champion of the Southern 100. Knowles is on a hot streak, as he has won four of the last five races, and finished second in the race he didn’t win. For the season, the second-generation driver has seven wins, 13 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 16 races.

Knowles has 1,520 points and a 104-point advantage in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National standings over Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point leader Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL. The 17-year-old driver has 1,416 points after one win, ten top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 16 races.

Three drivers are in a tight battle for the third spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National point standings. Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year Candidate Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, GA is the meat in a “Hohenwald Gang” sandwich.

Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, TN is third in the National standings with 1,308 points after four top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 16 races. Herrington is fourth with 1,298 points after one win, seven top five finishes, and 11 top ten finishes in 16 races, and Tyler Wood of Hohenwald, TN is fifth with 1,282 points after two top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 16 races.

T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL is sixth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National standings with 1,236 points, after three top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in 16 races. Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS is seventh with 1,164 points after a top five finish in 16 races.

The 2017 Southern 100 winner Kyle Bronson of Brandon, FL will return to Southern Raceway this weekend looking for his second Southern 100 win. Bronson is the defending and three-time Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race winner. Not only is Bronson the only three-time winner of Durrence Layne Racing’s premier event, he’s the only driver to win three in-a-row.

The Joiner Brothers of Milton, FL will head up the local favorites, and Jonathan and Joseph are loaded for bear. The siblings totaled six wins at Southern Raceway this season in Durrence Layne Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division competition. Jonathan Joiner had three wins, and Joseph Joiner had three wins.

Other top local favorites include Cody Smith of Holt, FL, Kyle Bryant of Navarre, FL, Colton Leyendecker of Holt, FL, Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL, Bo Slay of Milton, FL, Monte Skinner of Saraland, AL, Steven Jernigan of Milton, FL, and James Gilmore of Milton, FL who are expected to defend their home turf in the Southern 100.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series drivers that compete both nights at Southern Raceway will get a break in their Entry Fee for Saturday night’s event. The entry fee will be $100 each night for drivers competing in both events. If a driver races on Saturday night only, the entry fee will be $150.

In addition to the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour, the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division from the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series will also be in action this weekend at Southern Raceway.
