Ricky Weiss Streaks to World 100 Podium Finish
Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals Next

Headingley, Manitoba, Canada (09/11/19) – Less than a week after winning the Baltes Classic at the famed Eldora Speedway, Ricky Weiss raced to a podium finish in the coveted World 100 at the ˝-mile oval in his Derrick’s Sandblasting No. 7 Kakela Farms/ J&C Properties/ Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Race Engine Super Late Model.

“We had an uphill battle most of the weekend with the inverts and everything, but we has an awesome racecar from the time that we unloaded and ended up with a podium finish in the World 100. It’s hard to be upset about that,” Weiss said. “We had a heck of a race there with [Bobby] Pierce and [Jonathan] Davenport for the second half of Saturday night’s race. We got to second at one point, and I thought I might have a chance to get to the lead, but the cards just didn’t fall quite right. I’m still thrilled with a third-place finish in the biggest race of the year.

“I just want to thank each-and-every sponsor on my racecar as well as everybody on my team. We’re having a great year right now and hopefully we can go to Knoxville this weekend and get a win.”

Ricky Weiss was back in action at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday evening, kicking off the 49th annual World 100. In a field of 98 DIRTcar Super Late Models, Weiss recorded the 10th-fastest lap in his time trial group before placing fourth in his heat race. Starting the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature in 13th, Ricky passed six cars in the 25-lapper to register a sixth-place finish.

Back to the grind on Friday evening, Ricky posted a third-place finish in his heat race, which positioned him 12th on the starting grid for the final preliminary feature. With $10,000 on the line, Weiss gained seven spots to finish fifth behind Dennis Erb Jr., Chris Madden, Jason Jameson, and Shanon Buckingham.

Wrapping up the 49th annual World 100 on Saturday evening, Weiss secured his spot into the finale with a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Stormy Scott. Starting the $52,000-to-win A-Main in the eighth position, Ricky improved five spots in the 100-lap affair to register a third-place finish behind Jonathan Davenport and Jimmy Owens with Stormy Scott and Chris Madden rounding out the Top 5.
