Ricky Weiss Ends 2018 Season on a High Note with 25th Victory
Claims Fifth-Career WISSOTA National Late Model Championship
Headingley, Manitoba, Canada (10/09/18 ) – After a stellar 2018 campaign it only seemed fitting that Ricky Weiss would win his final race of the season. The Canadian racer did just that by taking his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7w Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Race Engine Late Model to Victory Lane on Saturday evening during the finale for the Minnesota Truck Headquarters Fall Classic at Ogilvie Raceway.
The win was his 25th of the season, and was worth $2,000. Even more, he officially clinched the 2018 WISSOTA National Late Model Championship. This marks the fifth time that Weiss has achieved the feat.
“For the second-straight week, the weather changed our initial plans, but it didn’t slow us down,” Weiss said. “We headed to Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday, and even though we had a good car, we had to really work for the win after starting seventh. I’ve had 20 plus wins in a year before, but never with wins of this caliber. The icing on the cake was clinching our fifth WISSOTA National Championship.
“This has been a dream season, and I can’t want to see what the 2019 season will hold. We’re already focused on getting things ready, and hopefully we can add a few more marketing partners so that maybe we can make a run at a national tour. I want to say a special thank you to everybody who made this incredible year possible.”
On Saturday night Ricky Weiss was one of 25 Wissota entries signed in at Ogilvie (Ogilvie, Minnesota) for the Minnesota Truck Headquarters Fall Classic. Dropping one spot in his heat, Weiss scored a runner-up finish behind Travis Budisalovich, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the feature.
Outrunning fourth-starting Pat Doar, Ricky Weiss charged to his 25th win of the season, which came over Doar, Travis Budisalovich, Jesse Glenz, and John Kaanta. He pocketed a $2,000 payday for his 35-lap victory.

The 2018 season is now likely over for Weiss. He looks to open his 2019 season in early January during the 13th annual Wild West Shootout at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway. The miniseries will include six racing events held over the course of 10 days. For more information on the events, please visit www.WildWestShootout.net .
