CARTERSVILLE, GA – It was a busy Week 15 in the 27-week 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series with events contested on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday over the July 4th Holiday. There was one lead change among the four Divisions after Week 15 competition, as more drivers reached the 14-week mark of their respective seasons.

The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 15 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS drove to his seventh Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division win of the 2018 season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. Scarbrough netted on a 46 to bring his best 14 weekly total to 690 points.

Scarbrough not only sits on top the Weekly Racing Series Late Model National standings, but he also is on top of the Late Model Weekly Point Average (WPA) list at 49.29 out of a possible 50 among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings. Shannon Lee is second in the standings with 663 points and is fifth on the WPA list at 47.36.

Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third in the Late Model standings with 653 points and is tenth on the WPA list at 46.64. Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL is fourth in the standings with 632 points, and Dustin Harris of Flintville, TN is fifth with 630 points. All drivers in the Top 5 of the point standings have reached the 14-week mark of their respective seasons, and are now netting points.

The second, third and fourth-place drivers on the WPA list are currently listed outside of the Top 10 in the point standings. The defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Late Model Champion Josh Leonard of Gibbon, NE is 16th in the standings with 487 points after ten weeks of competition.

Leonard has a WPA at 48.70 to rank second on the list. Leonard started Week 15 action with a win on Wednesday night at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS, and followed that up on Friday night with his eighth win of the season at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS. In an effort to defend his title, Leonard should be climbing up the points list in the coming weeks.

Delbert Smith of Wichita, KS is 17th in the standings with 481 points after ten weeks of competition, and is third in the WPA list at 48.1. Seth McCormack of Muscle Shoals, AL drove to his fifth win of the season on Sunday afternoon at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. McCormack is 12th in the standings with 524 points after 11 weeks of racing, and ranks fourth on the WPA list at 47.64.

North Alabama Speedway has announced that they will run Double Features this Saturday night for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division. Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS and Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL are tied for the second spot in the standings with 585 points apiece, and both drivers have completed after 13 weeks of racing. Ratcliff and Crosby are also tied for the eighth spot on the WPA list at 45. Ratcliff has the edge in the tie breaker with two wins, over Crosby’s one victory.

Duncan took his tenth win of the season with a 40-point victory on Friday night at Columbus Speedway. To find the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman WPA leader among the top 20 in the standings, one has to go down to the 19th spot where you’ll find Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS. Thrash has 394 points after eight weeks of racing, and a WPA of 49.25.

Andy Davis of Argo, AL still leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division standings with 465 points after 12 weeks of racing, and is tied for the third spot on the WPA list at 39.
