ADAIRSVILLE, GA - The 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National Champion Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL made a Week 28 encore to his 700-point Perfect Season with a $1,000 win on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL driving the Sparks Energy Rocket.

In the only other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 28 race, Dakota Berry of Huntingdon, TN drove the 22 Auto Salvage Special to victory on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division race scheduled for Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL was rained out.

Cole Brown of Cullman, AL and Blake Ray of Russellville, AL are tied for the second spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point standings. Each driver has a best 14-week total of 682 points. Brown did not compete in Week 28 action, and Ray was unable to net on a 46 after a 13th-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway.

Donovan Henry of Muscle Shoals, AL is fourth in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 677 points. Henry was unable to net on a 43 after a 15th-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL rounds out the top five in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 676 points.

Wallace was able to net on a 46 after a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division will have one more week to try and net points this weekend to earn a Top 10 points fund paying spot in the National standings.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
