I take this news with great pain, midge. I've never said a bad word for him and generally will not allow anyone else to do so either while in my presence. President George HW Bush absolutely was the finest CIC that I ever served under and my service goes all the way back to President Lyndon Baines Johnson. The failure of the repubs to re-elect President George HW Bush in 1992 and much of the hateful speech that I heard from them about him at that time are part of the several reasons I left the repub party. Let's all try and remember President George HW Bush in the very best light as is possible. I know for certain that his memory will always have a shining spot in my memory bank. Hail Chief Bush.

I disagreed with his politics, but he was a classy gentleman and a true patriot. I still remember him talking about how much he and Barbara loved Dana Carvey's impersonation of him on SNL in those days. He even appeared on SNL after he lost the election. He had a great sense of humor.

I miss the days when a president could love his country, have class and still poke fun at himself at times. Maybe we'll have that again someday.
