CARTERSVILLE, GA – Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN has clinched the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Championship. Gillespie has enough points over his closest challenger Andy Davis of Odenville, AL, that Davis cannot net enough points in Week 27 competition to make up the difference.

The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 25 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

The only scheduled race for the Division in Week 26 of the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN was rained out on Saturday night. With one week left in the 2018 season, Gillespie became the answer to a future “trivia question” as the first Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Champion.

With one week remaining in the 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season, Gillespie has 633 points with five wins, 19 top five finishes, and 20 top ten finishes in 20 races. Davis is second with 615 points. Casey Dunavan of Medina, TN is third with 614 points. Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL is fourth with 608 points, and Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is fifth with 607 points.

While Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS has clinched the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National Championship, Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS clinched the second spot in the 2018 point standings after driving to his 13th win of the season on Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS to net on a 49 and bring his best 14-week total to 696 points.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is third in the standings with a best 14-week total of 694 points. Scarbrough finished fourth at Hattiesburg Speedway and failed to net on a 49. Cory Dumpert of York, NE is fourth with 689 points and the 2017 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Josh Leonard of Gibbon, NE is fifth with 687 points. Neither Dumpert nor Leonard competed in Week 26 competition.

Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS has clinched the 2018 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship with a perfect 14-week total of 700 points. David Williamson of Seminary used his eighth win of the 2018 season to net on a 48 and moved into a tie for the second spot in the standings with Lee Ray of Columbus, MS.

Both Williamson and Ray have a best 14-week total of 692 points, but Williamson holds the tie-breaker with more 50-point wins. Ray did not compete in Week 26 action. Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL is fourth with 682 points, and Mark Haddon of Winchester, TN is fifth with 676 points. Neither Winkles nor Haddon competed in Week 26 action.

The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division did not compete in Week 26 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action with the Camden Speedway rainout. Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL has clinched the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National Championship with 697 points.

Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is second in the Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 693 points. Cole Brown of Cullman, AL is third with 687 points, and Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth with 685 points. Tony Shelton of Steens, MS is fifth with 677 points.
