CARTERSVILLE, GA – Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS raced to his 18th win of the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS to clinch the 2018 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship with a perfect best 14-week total of 700 points.

Idom now joins his son Jeremy Idom as a Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Champion. Jeremy Idom won the big prize in 2014 driving a 1957 Chevrolet built by his father.

The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 24 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point leader Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS took his 14th win of the season on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS to net on a 48. Double E now has a best 14-week total of 699 points, as he closes in on a “perfect season” of 14 weekly 50-point wins.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS and Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS are tied for the second spot in the Late Model standings, as each driver has a best 14-week total of 694 points. Seth McCormack of Muscle Shoals, AL is fourth in the Late Model standings with a best 14-week total of 686 points. McCormack finished second on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway to net on a 46. The defending Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Late Model Champion Josh Leonard of Gibbon, NE is fifth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 685 points.

Leonard may be the “wild card” in the remaining three weeks of the 2018 season, as the results of his two Week 24 Double Features are pending due to an Engine Protest his team filed against another competitor. Leonard’s home track, Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE will also run Double Features in Week 25 action. Week 25 is the final week for Double Features.

While Idom has clinched the title, drivers in the Street Stock Division are still battling for the Top 10 Point Fund paying spots.
