Ricky Weiss Enjoys Two-Win Weekend
Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (07/09/18 ) – Make it an even dozen. That’s how many wins that Ricky Weiss has now accumulated in 2018 behind the wheel of his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7w Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Race Engine Late Model.
Over the weekend Weiss visited Victory Lane at Manitoba’s Red River Co-op Speedway and North Dakota’s River Cities Speedway. He added an 11th-place finish with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series.
“I was hoping for three wins on the weekend, but we were a little off in the feature at Deer Creek Speedway on Saturday night,” Weiss said. “Even at that, we had a great weekend, and I’m really proud of our team. Things are about to get really busy for us with a lot of big races on the schedule over the next month. Hopefully we can knock down some more five-figure paydays in some of these major events.”
Ricky Weiss was one of 11 WISSOTA Super Late Models on hand at Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) on Thursday evening, where he was competing in the regular night of racing. Passing three cars in his heat race, Weiss reeled in a runner-up finish behind Mike Martin, which positioned him eighth on the starting grid for the feature.
Outrunning sixth-starting Mike Balcaen, Ricky Weiss streaked to his 11th win of the season in the 20-lapper, beating Balcaen, Shane Edginton, Walt Morris, and Shane Holden to the finish line.
On Friday night at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota), Weiss charged to an 8-lap heat race victory from the fifth-starting spot. Earning the pole position for the A-Main, Ricky carefully navigated his way through lap-traffic in the final laps to capture his 11th win of the season over Mike Balcaen, Brad Seng, Ryan Corbett, and Joey Pederson.
The following night Weiss stopped at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) to do battle in the 39th annual Gopher 50. In a field of 30 World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series entries, Ricky secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat. Falling just shy of a Top-10 finish, Ricky Weiss dropped two spots in the 50-lapper to log an 11th-place finish.

Friday and Saturday will see the team hooking horns with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series in pair of $10,000-to-win events at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota) and Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota).
